Helen is retreating
As I (Rob) write this, co-host Helen is retreating to Gladstone Library.
You may recognise that name from a previous episode we did where we interviewed best selling author Helen Callaghan, who has also retreated there.
Well, Helen (freak) was inspired by Helen (author) and it seems Helen took Helen’s advice and is now retreating. Helen seems to be having fun.
Rob did some Flânerie
I was bored at lunch the other day and took it upon myself to indulge in the French art of Flânerie.
Flânerie is the act of strolling, with all of its accompanying associations - Wikipedia
And in doing so I stumbled across the Centre for British Photography - literally 5 minutes from where I work.
So, I popped in and had a very pleasant and moving experience studying the brilliant photos on display.
There was a very moving exhibition by Charlie Phillips documenting “50 Years of African Caribbean Funerals”.
They also have some awesome photo books - photo books are just so beautifully designed.
Wandering for the sake of it can lead to magical serendipity.
New Episode - The Travelling Stationery Freak
We released a new episode a few weeks back in which Helen and I muse about what stationery we take with us when we travel.
Helen contemplates taking ink pens on a plane, I take very little to conferences (as they ALWAYS have freebie stationery) and we muse about observations of other travelling stationery freaks.
We also wonder how we can introduce ourselves to fellow stationery freaks……let us know if you ever say hello to random stationery freaks.
New Episode - You’re not lazy
A new episode launched today about chaotic productivity.
This is a slight detour from our usual podcasts in that we deconstruct a very epic video that we both enjoyed.
Helen sent me the video as she said it reminded her of me. When I watched the video I felt Elizabeth Filips had explained my entire life in a short video.
We both muse about what we took from the video and how we’re building systems to help with the main points made - and how stationery plays a role. A little less discussion about stationery than usual - but all of the points we cover are pretty much captured in other podcasts on our website.
Elizabeth also runs a podcast and offers some Notion templates here too!

Oh please. Is this not freaking awesome? Want it. Hat tip to Ian (Paper Sparrow) on IG for sharing this in his stories.
This is a good cat meme about pens. Hat tip to Trevor Shin for sharing in his stories.
Mildly obsessed with desk stationery organisers and looking to buy one. This one here at John Lewis is pretty awesome. But then we go to Etsy and this one is sweet. And then I fall into the rabbit hole that is awesome products on Etsy. And get overwhelmed and don’t buy one.
Not quite stationery but old printed books about design…..yes please. ThePrintarkive is addictive - don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Ottergami Paper are getting ready for Halloween. Me too - spent some time doodling some sketches in my own Ottergami: my go to is the A5 dotted. (affiliate link)
Pretty much obsessed with this IG account. Chill.
Neil Keating Art - I bought some pens and tried this after watching him. Inspiring.
Get your fill of pens, paint, ink, paper and anything else art related with Alicia Aradilla.
Have a great week.
